❄️ Weather Alert — Early Release Friday, Jan. 23, 2026 ❄️ Afton Public Schools will close early on Friday. Students will be released at 1:25 PM due to incoming inclement weather and dangerously low temperatures. 📣Please note the Boys & Girls Club will also be closed for the afternoon. 🏀The NEO basketball tournament for Friday and Saturday is also canceled.

Life Flight will be using our football field as a designated landing area for training/operational purposes. School activities will continue as normal.

🌟 Big Congratulations to Our 8th Grade Poets! 🌟 Mrs. Hiseley’s 8th grade ELA students entered a nationwide poetry contest at the beginning of the school year, and several students advanced to the next level of competition! 📝✨ Their poems were selected for inclusion in a nationally published poetry collection—an incredible honor.
Seeing their own names and poems in print is a huge achievement, and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, creativity, and talent! 📖👏

Our Afton Eagle 5th grade students had the opportunity to illustrate a "monster" for a soon to be published novel. Elementary schools from all over the United States were selected to have an opportunity to have their drawings be a part of the book. Ms. Lynn's Reading classes participated on a voluntary basis and Afton had several students illustrate a monster. Seven of Afton's monsters will be illustrated in the novel, Monster Madness, which is scheduled for publication March 23, 2026. Students received a certificate, monster stickers, and a congratulatory letter from the company, "Young Artists".
